AFSA Convention Moved to Summer of 2022

AFSA’s Triennial Convention that was scheduled for this summer in Puerto Rico has been postponed because of COVID-19. The convention will be rescheduled for the summer of 2022.

The AFL-CIO also has postponed its Constitutional Convention by one year; it now will be held in Philadelphia in June 2022.

A resolution passed by the AFSA General Executive Board stated:

WHEREAS, important items of business for the convention, including the election of Officers and General Vice Presidents, and the debate and adoption of resolutions of educational and labor policy and action plans for furthering these resolutions remain, and

WHEREAS, this business is better conducted in person, allowing for the free exchange among delegates, and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the AFSA Constitution, the General Executive Board has general supervision over all affairs of AFSA between conventions and the power to decide all questions involving the interpretation of the Constitution,

THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY the general executive board THAT, the Convention scheduled to be held in the Summer of 2021 is postponed and to be held in person in July or August, 2022, and
